I am a family member of an EU citizen. Are the standard requirements applicable to me?

If you are a citizen of the EU and traveling to the EU country, your family members can join you (who are not EU citizens. Depending on their nationality, your non-EU family member may need a visa, and if they need a visa, there will be no consulate fee & it will be free of charge.

A foreign national is considered an EU citizen “immediate family member” if the foreign national can show that they are:

• Spouse or registered partner
• Parent of an EU citizen under the age of 21
• Who actually looks after this young citizen
• Descendant under the age of 21 or such a descendant of an EU citizen spouse
